In a recent podcast interview, Seun Kuti condemned the image of God as a “white God,” pointing out possible problems with this depiction.

Seun shared his skepticism about the idea of an all-powerful deity constantly monitoring human actions, drawing parallels to earthly leadership and the desire for accountability.

He also pointed out perceived negative portrayals of women in religious books, citing examples from the Bible.

Seun discussed his interpretation of religious teachings, specifically referencing the Book of Revelations. He believes that, according to these teachings, Africans are not destined for heaven but rather for servitude in the temple.

In his words:

“I don’t believe in God in the concept that the Western and Abrahamic religions portray God as their own white God”.

This their own God, if he was living with us , nobody will like him; someone watching you every time and telling you what to do? 5000 years on the throne with no election? Just spend 15 years on earth on the throne and hear your people start complaining, ‘Oga when is the next election.

“He also didn’t like women, every bad thing that happened in the Bible was because of a woman, Eve, Delilah, Jezebel. If you close your eyes and you imagine your God as a white man with white hair, beard and a white robe, you’re lost.”

“Revelations has already made it clear that African people would never make it to heaven. Only 12,000 people from the 12 tribes of Judea, that is 144,000 people, would enter the real heaven. The rest of you will go there to serve in the temple. So slavery has already been secured for you again.”

Abel Damina’s Emergence Needed In The Church Space

There is an ongoing heated discussion within Nigerian Christian circles regarding the true nature and focus of the Christian message. Dr. Abel Damina, the senior pastor of Power City International Church, is at the center of this debate.

Read more: Adeboye Criticizes Modern Wedding Practices As Disrespectful To God

He faces opposition from a group of Pentecostal leaders, led by Paul Eneche of Dunamis Church, who have labeled Damina as a heretic and a divisive figure.

The core issue revolves around Damina’s strong opposition to the prosperity gospel, which asserts that monetary contributions to the church will result in divine financial rewards. This gospel also suggests that poverty and illness reflect a lack of faith or sin, and that faith and positive thinking can ensure wealth and success.

Damina rejects these assertions, presenting well-articulated arguments against them and openly criticizing prosperity gospel proponents. This stance has sparked significant controversy within the Christian community, with supporters and detractors sharply divided.

The debate has led to personal attacks against Damina, including some extraordinary allegations. Despite any personal flaws, Damina’s counter-message is deemed crucial.

He, like anyone, has the right to express his views on significant matters. Public discourse, including in religious contexts, is vital for societal progress and can lead to evolving beliefs and practices.

The prosperity gospel, which has dominated Nigerian Christianity since the 1980s, is ripe for counterarguments. Damina, having once advocated for a transactional relationship with God himself, now uses his insider knowledge to challenge the practices of “transactional pastors” who exploit emotional appeals to extract money from the vulnerable. His insight into the mechanics of the prosperity gospel contributes to the ongoing debate.

Despite the gospel’s promises, Nigeria’s economic reality remains harsh, with many adherents experiencing poverty and struggle. Although some claim personal transformation through the prosperity message, these cases are exceptions rather than the rule. The broader national experience reflects continued economic hardship and unfulfilled promises.

Damina’s role is crucial in offering an alternative perspective and encouraging serious consideration of counterclaims, enabling individuals to make informed decisions about their beliefs and practices.

He shared this information during an appearance on a show hosted by popular Nigerian On-Air Personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, on Tuesday.

Ogundipe also noted that the unnamed bank presented him with examples of churches that had obtained similar loans, with some ranging from N3 billion to N4 billion.

“A bank called me two months ago and said they wish to loan me N1 billion. They offered me the loan and I asked them what for. They replied that they know churches are getting it (loan) and I would be able to pay it back because they know my church is big.

“Then I asked them how they want me to be paying back, and they said when we are doing revivals, crusades, we’ll be paying back monthly.

“And they mentioned some churches who got loans from them ranging from N3 billion to N4 billion. And I asked them how they expected me to pay back such an amount and they said those that collect such loans, that’s why they would never stop doing conferences, crusades, and revivals, and from there, they would get money to pay back,” the pastor said.

Ogundipe was in 2020 convicted and sentenced to jail for defrauding a London-based architect and converting her property for personal use.

IMN Denies Killing Police Officers In Clash With Security Forces

Obasempire reports that the banned Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, has refuted allegations that they killed two police officers during a confrontation with security forces.

The two officers were brutally slain on Sunday after a violent clash between the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command and IMN members.

The command while reacting to the incident, accused the Shi’ite sect of an “unprovoked attack” on its men at Wuse junction by a traffic light.

The command said the group attacked its men with stones, wielding machetes, locally made explosives, and knives.

However, the IMN, while speaking with The Whistler, denied the allegations by the police.

A leader of the IMN group, Abdullahi Musa who led the procession on Sunday in Abuja, told the publication that the police command opened fire on its unarmed” members during a procession, which he described as “religious” observed by Shi’ites across the world.

He insisted that police officers in plain clothes killed their colleagues so they could put the blame on them.

Musa explained that the two-day trek which kicked off on Saturday, was aimed at joining its members around the globe in solidarity against the brutal assassination of Imam Husain (AS), a revolutionary leader who sacrificed his life fighting against injustice, tyranny and oppression.

Musa revealed that contrary to the narratives of the police, its members had duly informed the public, through a statement and the FCT Police Command through a letter, issued by its lawyer before embarking on the procession.

He said, “Before we embarked on this procession, we had issued a statement since Friday, to let the public know that the usual Arbaeen trek is going to take place on Saturday and Sunday, and this statement was published

“The commissioner of police was invited and he was fully aware. Before we came in the morning, they had asked us where we were starting the procession and we told them. We decided to divide ourselves into two. The initial plan was to take off from Banex so that people could converge at the Wuse market bridge.

“Unfortunately, early in the morning on Sunday, the police went and dropped six vans of fully armed policemen at Banex and Berger under the bridge. When we saw this, we decided to change routes, so we would not have issues with them because we know they usually attack us.

“If police came to protect you, would they come with armoured tanks and boxes of ammunition? Will they come to protect you during a procession, is that how they do? because this is not the first time, they always attacked us.

“We decided to go to Wuse Zone 3 junction and then trek to Wuse market, but before we arrived at Wuse market, we heard that they had arrested some of our brothers and sisters.

“We didn’t talk to them, but as we arrived at Wuse market, Wallahi, I swear to God almighty, I was in the front, and we were holding placards and citing in Arabic, ‘Imam Husain, we are with you and we are matching in solidarity’ and carrying flag signifying ‘Ashura’ and these people opened fire, not even tear-gas.

“They opened fire with live ammunition, I was there, and everybody started running. So, I am not aware of all these allegations they are saying that our people killed police. How? Were we armed? We were not armed. We were only carrying placards. Is a placard a weapon? If the people knew that we were armed, they would not face us.”

In  a further response to the police report of razing police vehicles, Musa said, “Today we found out that there is a brother who was arrested by Policemen in mufti, looking like Agberos (touts). It is the policemen in mufti that set those vehicles ablaze.

“If there is any officer that was killed, he was killed by his fellow officers in mufti or uniforms. We do not kill anyone, but advocate for a better life for Nigeria.”

Rev. Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, Director General of the Centre, claimed that the victims’ placentas are utilized for ritualistic practices. Bishop Audu Yohanna, the Anglican Church Bishop and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman in Yobe State, confirmed that the girl regurgitated in the church office during prayers.

The Centre has issued a deadline to the captors, demanding the release of all other prisoners, as there are currently 30 cases of abductees under police investigation, according to CAN. This event highlights the ongoing injustices and suffering faced by marginalized Nigerians, especially in the Northeast region.

The Centre has urged President Bola Tinubu to address the kidnapping of young Christian girls, forced conversions to Islam, and coerced marriages.

Rev. Dikwa asserted that Muslims are using the placentas of forcibly converted underage Christian girls for ritual purposes.

He noted that when Rejoice Markus was rescued and brought to the church for spiritual cleansing, she regurgitated the substances given to her. Other victims, including Elizabeth Bitrus, Deborah Yusuf, Damarin Paul, and Linda Usman, are facing similar issues.

He asserted that such practices amount to questioning God’s creation, labeling those who participate in them as foolish for displaying disbelief in the divine work.

Pastor Adeboye expressed his concern over the extravagant activities people engage in for weddings today.

He addressed these issues at the RCCG ministers’ conference during its National Convention on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He lamented that traditional values have been abandoned, and people are no longer conservative or practical in their approach to marriage.

According to Pastor Adeboye: “It wasn’t so in the beginning. When you marry, you cut your coat according to your clothes.

“Some of you want to be like the people of the world. I can’t even imagine some of the things I see now.

“People spend hundreds of thousands of naira on ‘shoot out’ (photo shoot). And then on the day of the wedding, the girl put on all manner of decoration.
