Access Bank’s CEO Herbert Wigwe Killed In California Helicopter Accident

Obasempire reports that the CEO of Access Holdings, Dr. Herbert Wigwe has passed away.

He lost his life in a helicopter crash with approximately five others in California, United States on Friday evening.

It has been confirmed that his spouse and child, as well as former Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, were among the five others in the crash.

Reports indicate the helicopter was en route to Las Vegas when it crashed near a border city between Nevada and California on Friday night. The US government has confirmed that all on board perished.

Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe was born on 15 August 1966 in Ibadan. He served as the CEO of Access Holdings Plc until his passing, traded as Access Corporation.

He held the position of Group Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading five banking institutions, following his succession of his business partner, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, in January 2014 until April 2022.
